Water Quality Monitoring
As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and operational excellence, a routine water quality monitoring program was recently conducted at one of the wastewater treatment facilities within the industrial area of PT. KIMA (Makassar Industrial Estate). The activity involved the collection of water samples from several strategic points throughout the treatment process to evaluate the effectiveness of the facility in producing high-quality treated water.
The sampling was carried out by environmental and water treatment specialists following established procedures to ensure representative and reliable results. Key water quality parameters, including pH, turbidity, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), and microbiological indicators, were analysed to assess compliance with applicable environmental and water-quality standards.
Regular monitoring plays a critical role in identifying potential operational issues, optimizing treatment performance, and ensuring that the treated water remains safe for its intended use. The collected data also provide valuable insights for continuous improvement of the treatment system, supporting more efficient resource management and reducing environmental risks.
This monitoring initiative reflects PT. KIMA’s ongoing efforts to promote responsible industrial practices and strengthen environmental stewardship within the industrial estate. By maintaining strict control over water quality, the facility contributes to protecting surrounding ecosystems while supporting sustainable industrial development in the region.
Through proactive monitoring and data-driven decision-making, PT. KIMA continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental compliance, water conservation, and the implementation of best practices in wastewater management. Such initiatives are essential for building a more sustainable industrial ecosystem that balances economic growth with environmental responsibility and long-term community well-being.
