Wastewater Treatment Plant
To support increasing visitor numbers and operational activities, an upgrade of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at Mall Casablanca, Jakarta, was recently undertaken to enhance treatment capacity and optimize overall system performance. The project was designed to ensure that the wastewater treatment facility can effectively manage higher wastewater loads while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
As one of Jakarta’s prominent commercial and lifestyle destinations, Mall Casablanca generates significant volumes of domestic wastewater from retail outlets, restaurants, food courts, restrooms, and other supporting facilities. With growing operational demands, the existing treatment system required capacity enhancement and process optimization to maintain reliable and efficient performance.
The upgrade project included a comprehensive evaluation of the existing WWTP, followed by improvements to key treatment units such as equalization, biological treatment, aeration systems, clarification, and filtration processes. Additional equipment and process control systems were installed to increase hydraulic and organic loading capacity while improving treatment efficiency. The modernization effort also focused on reducing operational risks, improving energy efficiency, and enhancing the stability of the biological treatment process.
Following the upgrade, the WWTP is now capable of treating larger volumes of wastewater more effectively, resulting in improved effluent quality and greater operational reliability. The enhanced system supports compliance with wastewater discharge standards while reducing the environmental impact of the mall’s daily activities.
Beyond regulatory compliance, the project demonstrates Mall Casablanca’s commitment to sustainable facility management and responsible environmental stewardship. By investing in modern wastewater treatment infrastructure, the mall is contributing to the protection of urban water resources and supporting Jakarta’s broader environmental sustainability goals.
This capacity enhancement initiative reflects the importance of proactive infrastructure development in ensuring that commercial facilities can continue to grow while maintaining high environmental performance and operational excellence for years to come.
